  • Beach – There are so many beaches within just a 5 or 10 minute drive from Akama that its difficult to know where to start
    • Cellito & Sandbar beach are directly across smiths lake a dew hundred metres in front of Akama and can be accessed via boat, or a quick 5 minute drive. Or at low tide it is possible to walk accross the lake directly to the sandbar beach
    • Boomerang Beach
    • Blueys Beach
    • Elizabeth Beach
    • Shelly Beach
    • 7 mile beach
    • A further afeild there are seal rocks beachs and the numerous beachs in and around forster.
  • Dive – Dive trips and Private charters are available including all gear for certified divers from dive Forster in Forster www.diveforster.com.au.
  • Fishing – For those that must catch their own dinner, the waters are abundant. Both fishing in one of the areas "Great Lakes", surfcasting from the beach, great spots for rock fishing and calm and easy spots for launching a boat into the sea.
  • Paddle Skis or catamarans – Are a great way to explore Smiths Lake and its secluded beaches whilst burning off last nights indulgence. (They can be hired from the frothy coffee cafe)
  • Picnic – In paradise…an esky and backpack are provided
  • Swimming – Perfect year round the languid waters are clear, warm and safe.
  • Water skiing and boating. Smiths lake, Myall lake and Wallis lake are all fun safe areas for a variety of water sports. With easy spots for launching your boat there are endless areas to explore or play in.
  • Walks & Wanders – There are a number of short walks and stunning views. At low tide it's possible to explore farther afield or walk across to sandbar beach. Further information is available on the local tourist website www.greatlakes.org.au
